Here's a rather humorous and colorful antique postcard depicting a well-dressed but apparently somewhat inebriated gentleman carrying a top hat and umbrella, being confronted by his irate wife who is dressed in her nightgown, shawl and bonnet. It is signed "Tom B." in the lower right corner. The caption reads:
Mr Caudle
having come
home late
declares that
henceforth
"He will have
a key."
The back states that the card was produced by "DAVIDSON BROS. Pictorial Cards, from Originals by TOM BROWNE, R. I." and is "Series 2570-I". There is also a trade mark for "DAVIDSON BROS." "LONDON & NEW YORK".
The card was postmarked from Charlestown, West Virginia, on June 17, 1909, and is addressed to a Mrs. Lulu Carry of Bolivar W. Va. (c/o Mr. Austin Green).
Size: approx. 3½" x 5½"
Date: Postmarked 1909 but there appears to be a 1907 copyright on the front, at the lower right corner.
Condition: Good, I'd say. It's obviously postally used but is only lightly soiled, with slightly worn edges and corners. HOWEVER, it does have 4 tack holes, at the top left, center and right, and near the bottom center. (Please see scans.)
MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
